Ways to study

Over the 12 months, you will be supported by industry experienced trainers. You will be exposed to creative design thinking and work with a range of traditional and digital design processes to create design projects in a studio-based environment. You will also have opportunities to work on various production and research projects through our online classes. This course covers drawing and 3D design, pattern design, colour theory and integration. Learning in small groups, you will use up-to-date equipment and the latest design software.

What you need to know about studying on campus/ Online classes

Courses delivered on campus will involve classroom-based learning, led by skilled and knowledgeable trainers. Also, students will work on various production and research projects through our online classes.

Course Overview

The course will give you a broad range of ground knowledge design skills needed for entry in the design industry. You will be exposed to various design concepts, involved in design projects that reflect industry practice and connect with creative people and creative ideas related to the design industries.

Our teaching approach is practical and hands-on. You will be learning in a studio environment as well as through lectures, workshops, industry presentations and group work.

You will be connected with people from design industries and work on a range of projects. You will be studying with creative trainers who have current knowledge of the latest design trends and innovations.

Course Structure

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 15 units. The duration of this course is 52 weeks. 20 contact hours per week.

Important Information

Entry Requirements

Participants in CUA40715 Certificate IV in Design will be required to have:

  • IELTS band score of 5.5 ( Academic or general version) or equivalent internationally recognised exam result in line with Australian Student Visa requirements; or
  • Satisfactory completion of at least 20 weeks of ELICOS within Australian Institute; or
  • Completed secondary studies equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification
  • Be eligible for an English language exemption in line with Australian Student Visa requirements

Assessment Methods
